Cooking for the stupid
Well, no. "Roasting" is not an especially "fancy term for cooking food in a hot oven." It's been around since the 14th century, originally (to hear the OED tell it) for cooking over an open fire, with the oven sense coming along later. It wasn't fancy when Chaucer used it, or Shakespeare, or Dryden, or Gibbon, or Vegetarian Times ("You can roast the potatoes and garlic together in a large baking pan"). And while America's Test Kitchen is welcome to its opinions -- nah. Surely you can find some better way to prepare your green beans in summer than roasting.
