The hed's written; we're just waiting for the story

Via Romenesko and apparently originating at Gawker -- let's go straight to the videotape! Fox science correspondent Gene Koprowski is alleged* to have posted this message on ProfNet, with a deadline of 11p (10 central) for responses:

1. ENVIRONMENT/TODAY: Global Warming Causing More Snow? Come Again? — FoxNews.com
Deadline: Feb 01, 2011 11:00 PM EST
Former Vice President Al Gore told Bill O'Reilly that: "A rise in global temperature can create all sorts of havoc, ranging from hotter dry spells to colder winters, along with increasingly violent storms, flooding, forest fires and loss of endangered species." We need comments from someone who can point out the ridiculousness of his argument, even if you accept the somewhat-implausible argument. I've been assigned this story just now by Fox News in New York for the science and technology desk. I'm looking for comments. Please send comments via e-mail. Please send your name, title and company you represent. Please send comments by 10 p.m. CST.

Why bother to write the thing, in that case? Well, let's see how Fox readers talk about that global warming hooey. Here's a selection of comments from a year ago -- Feb. 6, 2010 -- on the main news story about the snowstorm in DC:

That Darn Global Warming...Maybe this is a sign for Obama and all the liars who support cap and tax. Mother nature is pulling punk cards by the hand full. GLOBAL WARMING IS A GIANT LIE. WAKE UP CONGRESS!!!

Al who????? Wot's that global warmin' stuff anyway?

Global warming huh? Stupid democrats. I'm done with them. Bring on the republicans in November.

wake up america,, its God saying What Global Warming?

Not out of touch! In touch with Reality! God creates the weather, has always done so, Nature has always taken care of itself! Why do stupid politicians try to change that fact!!!

Haven't seen much of Al Gore lately, have we...

this is so funny, im starting to believe that God is trying to send al gore and the global warming nuts, a message.

wake up america,, its God saying What Global Warming?

How about that global warming eh Algore?

Hey Al-- explain this!

And from Wednesday's soul-destroying apocalyptic march of snow across the Midwest?

That is the beauty of the global warming scam. It is cold because of global warming. If there is no rain, global warming caused it. If there is a flood global warming caused it etc. etc.

Just think Al, how much MORE snow we would have gotten if this global warming wasn't happening!....this global warming is sure messing things up! NOT!

Must be global warming. Vote the democrats out!

No. Algore's book verifies "man-made" global warming. He said so. He also said there is no more arguing the fact. Now THERE'S science for you...of course you can peruse the papers at East Anglica for more "facts"...

Right on!! Al Gore is not a scientist, he is an opportunist. IE a money grubber. He is rich and the rest of us are arguing. Weather cycles have occurred long before the SUV, or any of the "man-made" causes implicated by this pseudo intellectual. Read history!!!

I think this is GOD telling Al Gore to STFU lol...

This is why I laugh at people like you. Ok, I could see a ton of snow in place it's normal snows. But your warmer moist air meets cold? That's the problem Al. It where it's cold that is making this so bad! Forget about the snow Al.. Why is it so cold in places that rarely get this cold?

I wonder if Al Gore will try for a Nobel Prize for Global cooling now.

Where's Global Warming? Where's Gore?

It's getting hot = Global Warming
It's getting cold = Global Warming
It's the same as it has been = Global Warming
Global Warming = More money/power ! ! !

Global Warming = Global Cooling = Climate Change = Al Gore's checking account get fatter. All I know is I saw a Polar Bear walking down 5th Ave carrying a sign that said "HEY AL GORE, GET S C R E W E D".

The only substantive difference I can see is the new theme: First it was global warming, now it's "climate change," and 10 years ago they were telling our kids that snow was a thing of the past! Clearly, this calls for a "some say" lede. How nice that the modern era makes it easy to write the lede, then wait around and see who's clip-happy enough to say it.

* The free tour only includes stuff from today, sorry.

So he's not looking for an expert, just someone to use the words he is not supposed to say himself.
